In order to increase the number of foreign students coming to Taiwan for education purposes and to promote Chinese language learning abroad, the Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) has established a program underwhich qualified Taiwan universities take on responsibility for setting up Taiwan Education Centers in select countries, while also advocating for greater opportunity for Academic-Industry cooperation.
National Pingtung University of Science and Technology has been designated to oversee the Taiwan Education Center of Thailand, with offices set up at Kasetsart University, Maejo University(ThepSartsathit) and Rajamangala University of Technology Isan. In addition to providing foreign students with information on studying in Taiwan, the Center also helps to organize recruitment seminars and overseas education exhibitions. It also provides direct, informative and meaningful consultation services for interested students. Furthermore, the Center coordinates with government policy related to teaching Chinese language abroad by offering curriculum in Chinese language acquisition and hosting Chinese language proficiency tests (TOCFL)
