School of Renewable Energy







The School of Renewable Energy was established as a unit with faculty status on October

19th, 2011. Maejo University has been committed to development in renewable energy for over 15

years, with a timeline of important developments as follows:

In 1999, Maejo University was registered as an Energy Advisory Unit by the Ministry of Finance,

in order to provide advice in this area to the government and private sectors.

In 2001, the university received funding from the National Science and Technology Development

Agency (NSTDA) and began the project, "Technology Transfer and Energy Demonstration Center

for Agriculture," with the objective of demonstrating energy technology related to the agricultural

In 2005, Maejo University Council approved the establishment of the Energy Research Center,

which operated under a self-reliant enterprise model.

In 2007, Maejo University Council approved the offering of a Bachelor of Science in Renewable

Energy. The Energy Research Center was approved as a School and offered pilot courses in this

In 2010, Maejo University developed a policy of renewable energy development as an

improvement strategy during the years 2010-2015.

The School of Renewable Energy was established as a school by the University in 2012 and

given faculty status. Mr. Rachata Chuaviroj was appointed as the first Acting Director. After that,

the School's electoral committee was established and appointed Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthawud Dussadee

as the Director.
