Faculty of Science







Maejo University's Faculty of Science has been under the Office of Commission on Higher

Education, Ministry of Education since July 1st, 2003. Before that, it had been considered part of

the Department of General Education, Agricultural Business Faculty. In the National Economic

and Social Development Plan No. 7 (1992-1996) a policy of human resource production and development

was established, especially in the fields of science and technology. In response to this policy, Maejo

University established the Faculty of Science as separate from the Department of General Education.

Following this, the Faculty of Science developed as follows:

1993 The Faculty of Science was established.

1995 It accepted students into the 4-year Bachelor of Science program in

1996 It opened the Bachelor of Science 4-year program in Biotechnology.

1997 It opened the Bachelor of Science 4-year programs in Chemistry, Statistics,

2003 It opened the Bachelor of Science 4-year program in Mathematics.

2005 It began offering graduate courses, beginning with the Master of Science in

Biotechnology.

2006 It opened the Master of Science program in the department of Applied Chemistry.

2007 It opened the Bachelor of Science 4-year program in Materials Science.

2009 It opened the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs in the

department of Genetics.

2010 It opened the Doctor of Philosophy programs in Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology.

The faculty aims to possess academic excellence in science and technology, and to produce

graduates and research that have an international standard of quality for Thailand’s sustainable

development.

Mission

1. To teach and produce graduates who possess theoretical and practical knowledge.

2. To conduct scientific research and integrates knowledge and application that leads to

both local and national development.

3. To provide and service scientific knowledge for the community.

4. To promote and participate in culture and tradition conserving activities.
