Maejo University, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the private sector hold a press conference on a new solar-powered rice mill machine.


On 22 April 2016, Maejo University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Thai Machinery Association and Thai Agency Engineering Co., Ltd. held the press conference at the School of Renewable Energy, Maejo University. The project was to develop and to pass on engineering technology.

High-ranking officials graciously attended the press conference, watched a demonstration and marked the grand opening of the prototype rice mill. The small machine is for community use and operated by solar power.

This all-in-one, 5-Kilowatt machine can produce 20 kilograms of rice per hour. It can operate up to 5 hours per day. The machine comes with a rice mill, a water pump, a dryer, a silo, and a packing machine. Farmers can dry, mill and pack bags of rice for selling or for storing right away. The Company plans to produce and commercialize the machine. Those who are interested in this prototype can visit the School of Renewable of Energy, Maejo University.
